I am taking the advice of my friend Nichole and basking in the small moments of life. The moments that actually matter and speak volumes over what she has to say.
Moments when my daughter lights up over a pile of nasty looking seashells. “Mommy, they are so pretty. Look! From the water beach.”
The pause my son makes when it’s time to walk through the door to school, glancing back and extending a hand to his smaller, yet not so little sister. “Come on Barrett, it’s school time!”
The shrieks and giggles I hear from the kitchen, while tackling that pile of dishes that picked at me all morning. The kids enjoying every minute of the new trampoline in the backyard. Each jump brings a new game and a new way to enjoy the bounce. “The balls are lava! Oh no! Don’t let them touch you!”
The gasp my husband takes when he asks Brayden what he thinks is the most important thing in life. “Not numbers, love.”
The little pat I feel on my leg, that’s followed by a kiss when folding that mountain of laundry. “You’re doing a great job mommy!”
These are the moments that wash away the critic. The moments that matter and give value to my life.

I couldn’t agree more. No matter how crazy, busy or downright awful the day has been, I always try to find something happy to hang on to. Life is flying by so fast and I want to always try to stay focused on the sweet things that happen during the day. Sometimes when I snuggle Emmy in her bed at night, she asks me what my favorite thing was that particular day and what I didn’t like. It’s a nice way to reflect back on what was special and what we want to improve for the next day.

I wish I could get to the core of why it is so hard for me to really focus on these moments with a greater ease. It is SO hard and I have to try SO hard to do so. Miss you…

This post is so beautiful, Sue, from your words to that amazing photo.
It makes my heart swell to think of you savoring those moments…those slivers of time that together form the larger whole.
I love reading happiness in your words.
Love you!

Happiness in my words and mind is exactly what I strive for. So hard though sometimes. I am hoping that with practice, this peacefulness will become second nature to me. Thanks for your comment Nichole, means a lot.
